Hubert’s journey spans 37 years of dedication, hard work, and passion for his craft. His story began in Austria, where he first imagined becoming a mechanic, inspired by his love of cars and the winding mountain roads. His parents cautioned him, though, that while the work is rewarding, you come home each day with your hands covered in oil. That conversation sparked a new idea, to become a baker, creating the food people enjoy every day and returning home with clean hands.![]()

He pursued that path, working overnight in a bakery while attending business school in the evenings. At just 22, he and his best friend Roland came to Canada to begin a new chapter in their lives and later, a new business.![]()

Hubert became a driving force behind our commitment to consistency and quality. He often reminded us that if you miss the mark more than once with a customer, you may never get the chance to win them back. His dedication to that belief and the time, effort, and heart he poured into the company helped shape the success we know today. And when a problem arose that others struggled to solve, his response was often to “make it happen,” as if to say that failure wasn’t an option and a solution would always be found.![]()

Hubert’s departure will leave a mark, but he has spent years mentoring his two sons, Thomas and Andy, preparing them to carry on his legacy and to keep the bread rolling along with their Senior Partner, David.![]()

All of us wish Hubert a well‑deserved retirement and are excited for him as he begins his permanent vacation in the years ahead!
